About Light the Fire for Education and NWDS
Light the Fire for Education raises awareness and financial resources to build scholarship programs to help our youth turn college dreams into college degrees.

This evening’s reception will recognize the efforts of local chapters, raising more than $10 million annually in scholarships for students in Washington and Oregon as well as recognize the significant contributions from Corporations, Foundations and Individuals.

Northwest Dollars for Scholars is a division of Scholarship America, the nation’s largest private sector scholarship and educational support organization. Since 1958, Scholarship America has distributed over $2 billion to more than 2 million students across the country. For eight straight years, Scholarship America has received the coveted 4-star rating from Charity Navigator. Northwest Dollars for Scholars has been sending students to college through local scholarship programs in communities throughout the Northwest. More than 26,000 students have received scholarships in Washington and Oregon since 1987, including 3,018 recipients last year.
